My son went off to college six years ago and has four to go. He's only rarely come to visit - for very good reasons like summer school and summer internships. But I don't know if he'll ever want to come here to live. He likes a social life and that's one thing New Hampshire is lacking. My bet is that he'll end up somewhere east of the Mississippi but probably not in casual driving distance.

I think the author's point is that our kids will never be children again. They'll never again be living at home. (clo has somehow dodged this problem with her gem of a son. He's, what? Fifty-two now? LOL. Have you noticed how often she talks about him on her board? But she loves having him there. I bet he rubs her feet every day and does her hair.) Our children will never again be taking up significant amounts of our time. Therefore, we need to find new ways to entertain ourselves.

That's easy for me. How about for you guys? Have any of you found retirement boring?
