We've reduced our auctioning. It's very time consuming. Buying, picking up and putting things away is making it difficult to get much else done!

But we did do a Massachusetts auction on the 18th. We only won two things: A dresser & end table, and "A WEST GERMAN MAHOGANY CASE CLOCK".

We screwed up and forgot the end table. My wife is going to contact the auction house and see if we can still get it. It's probably too late, but technically the mistake was theirs. They didn't bring it out for us. Still, the dresser, which is real wood, was only $16 and we needed one in its color.

But I really like the clock. The photos don't do it justice, imo. And it's 73 inches tall. Clocks that are 6' or more are Grandfathers, so it's a very small Grandfather clock. I'm happy about that - though we haven't yet tried it to see if it works. (We don't yet know where we're going to put it, and until we're done moving it, I don't want to mess with it.) $28.

My wife is heading out this morning to pick up several auction items including this Nikon camera. It's older - released in 2009, just 10 megapixels, with 15x optical zoom. $28. My Canon digital camera died a few months ago, and I haven't been satisfied with the Olympus replacement - though at least I didn't have to buy it. It was my wife's old camera.

Ultimately, it's the image quality that matters. Sunsets always looked washed out with the Olympus. The Canon was phenomenal in that regard, though it didn't have anything like 15x optical zoom. And I may not have been putting the Olympus into the proper mode for the pics I was taking... I didn't find the interface intuitive.

I'll let you know if this 15-year-old alternative is any better.
