And now Trump is complaining that his legal team, and in particular his lead attorney, Todd Blanche, is not being aggressive enough with the judge and that they're not asking tough enough questions of the witnesses. He's also complaining that they they're not paying attention to his instructions, that his requests to them are being ignored. He's also complaining that he's being overcharged for the defense that he's been getting. Sounds like he's either getting ready to fire his lawyers, or he's laying the groundwork for arguing that he had inadequate representation if he loses the case and subsequently files an appeal.

Being held in criminal contempt could be a bigger problem for Trump than just the $9,000 fine since he's currently under indictment in three other criminal cases, and as part of his bail agreements in those cases, he must avoid violating any state or federal laws. Technically, being held in criminal contempt in the New York hush money case is a violation of New York state law. This means that the prosecutors in those other three cases, Jack Smith in the January 6th insurrection case and the Mar-a-Lago documents case, and Fani Willis in the Georgia RICO case, they could ask the courts to revoke Trump's bail agreements.

Note that while Trump was also fined for violating his gag order in the New York fraud trial, since that was a civil case, that violation did not have an impact on any of his criminal cases.
