We've had more rain than usual and they say it's going to continue to be that way, this year.

Last Six Months Rainfall for DFW - 21.29 inches

Last Six Months Average Rainfall for DFW - 16.59 inches

Of course, they test this at one spot - DFW Airport - but, Dallas and its surrounding suburbs that are east of the airport tend to get even more rain than the airport.

The suburbs just northeast of Dallas received 2.50 to 3.00 inches in the last 72 hours.

I was up with the dog until 3:30 this morning because of the thunderstorms that rolled through, last night - he hates thunder claps and lightning and the only place he will settle down is a bed we have for him underneath my corner desk, IF I am sitting at the desk. If I get up, all bets are off.

My area had its wettest July ever in 2021, and last year was soggy for most of the summer. Now the forecast is saying lots of rain is headed our way.

This is lousy for tomatoes and peppers... the two main vegetables I've got under my grow lights. I hope the forecast changes.

Rain isn't the problem so much as a lack of sunlight. Tomatoes and peppers eat the light up. In a drought, I can always water. But in rainy stretches, there's not much I can do. I'll have to get some beans planted. They do fine in rainy weather.

On the brighter side (no pun intended), rain is important to newly planted trees. I should have all of my plums in the ground by Tuesday.
