We placed bids at three auctions last night, winning quite a bit at two of them. The one with fewer wins - just two - included a crossbow with arrows ($46)and a lot described as "BOX THAT SAYS PORTABLE GREENHOUSE." That should be fun... like one of Woot's Bags of Crap: "It says 'Greenhouse,' but what is it REALLY????" LOL. Just $11. We won't know until we pick it up on Saturday.

We got this little (7" x 3") tray for $26. With the seller's fee, it came to $29.90. Only thing is, the auction house didn't post its weight, so that made its purchase a gamble. I like that. I've got enough experience to know that it is bound to weigh more than 1.5 ounces and is therefore underpriced. In fact, it weighs 3.1 ounces, which is 2.83 Troy ounces. Sterling is 92.5 percent silver, so the tray has 2.618 ounces of silver making it a whisker larger than the caddy tournament trophy plate I posted about in 2023, even though it doesn't look it. At the current spot price, the tray's silver is worth $69.40.

The tray was made by the Frank M. Whiting, Co. We can tell from the hallmark and bead pattern that it was made in 1895. (The hallmark was not used beyond 1896.)
