The first of last night's three auctions included a lot of wins that aren't terribly interesting: Craft items for my wife, two shelves of miscellaneous hardware that MIGHT be gardening related, a string of lights hopefully suitable for the front porch, cloth bags, electronics and some boxes that might go on a wall for organizing misc. contents. But it also had a fairly ugly little sterling bowl... once again of unknown weight. I got that one for $27 and will post more once I've weighed it.

The third of the three had more boring things: Reflective stakes for the side of the driveway, some L.L. Bean satchels that look like new, bags for car tires - bought at the perfect time since we just replaced our studded winter tires last week and will be swapping out tires twice annually from now on. There were othr things along those lines. The auction also had my favorite item of the night, a Meade telescope for $27. It's a very small refractor that's only a bit more powerful than my best binoculars. It comes with a tripod that should make for easy, stable viewing and it has a computer interface! That will be really cool *IF* I can get the software. The trouble is that it doesn't come with it, Meade is no longer in business, and the scope is 20+ years old... designed to work with Windows 2000. So I'm not sure I'll ever be able to take full advantage of its abilities - including its ability to take photos.

We placed bids at three auctions last night, winning quite a bit at two of them. The one with fewer wins - just two - included a crossbow with arrows ($46)and a lot described as "BOX THAT SAYS PORTABLE GREENHOUSE." That should be fun... like one of Woot's Bags of Crap: "It says 'Greenhouse,' but what is it REALLY????" LOL. Just $11. We won't know until we pick it up on Saturday.
