Fresh as fresh could be when he popped it in his mouth. Dead as dead could be when he swallowed. (He chewed it up.) I think it was the first time he intentionally did something to shock me!

So, he was willing to do that when he was seven or eight, but even at eleven or twelve he wouldn't clean a fish in Scouts. (I think it would have been an easy merit badge, or at least a patch.) I could never figure that kid out.

wuz it still alive when he swallowed it?

I really dislike those things and we get them here.

My area not as bad as say where my parents lived about 25 miles north and slightly east..

They are truly noisy critters.. My dog has not seen them yet so it will be interesting how he reacts to them..

I forgot about them coming up this year.. Dang.. It will be noisy around here for a spell. I am confident RIBS will come up with original Cicada recipes that our southerners might find to be a genuine delicacy.

Cicadas and Grits wif a little Maple syrup. A Southern favorite I hear.....
