Actually, the death penalty was established by none other Than GOD HIMSELF.
There are two kinds of death as well.
One is Physical death where the body dies.
But when that happens, where does the SPIRIT inside you go? The Spirit is YOU. It is who you are and does the thinking and has connection with GOD... It is everlasting.
Only GOD is Eternal. MAN is "everlasting"..
I'm waiting for you to ask me "what's the difference"..
It's huge..
I actually stumped Doctor Jacobs, a Theology professor on this as well and after I explained it to him he acknowledged he should have known that..
SO, why is GOD eternal?
Because he HE always was. He was before HE created the Universe and all that is contained inside it, including our solar systems and many others. The Bible calls it "the Heavens AND the Earth". HE SPOKE and created all things into existence by the power of HIS Word.
WHO or what is the "power of His Word"???
The second person of the Trinity, CHRIST THE SON of God, second person of the Trinity..
The reason MANKIND is "everlasting is because we have a BEGINNING at conception but we have no end.
GOD had NO beginning nor does HE have an end. He is ETERNAL.
When our shell (body) physically dies our Spirit leaves it behind and our Angel accompanies us to Heaven where we receive a NEW and Eternal Body that looks just like ourself on earth only there are no blemishes, or arthritis or any diseases. It is a perfect body and you will be "known" in heaven even as you were on earth..
We will see our friends and loved ones who were received into Heaven ahead of us. They will meet us when we arrive at the Eastern Gate of the Eternal City, The NEW Jerusalem..
It's a little re-assuring to know what will happen when it is time for our worn out body to lay down and our Spirit will Leave and our ANGEL will take us to our eternal home in Heaven to be with the Lord.
The moment anyone trusts in Christ alone for the forgiveness of their sins and asks HIM to be Savior and Lord of your life, your name is recorded in the Lamb's Book of Life which is a requirement to gain entrance to the eternal city of GOD.
WE ALL have books about us, We are recorded in the BOOK of Life AND the Lamb's Book of life. One is the day we were born. The other is the day we received CHRIST as Savior and have been sealed by the Holy Spirit against that day.
GOD was in favor of punishment by DEATH and in fact sad "The soul that sinneth, it shall surely die".
He also commanded Moses to record the LAWS and a death penalty is included.
Only back in those days people were "stoned" to death...
I think a bullet to the head or thru the heart is actually merciful compared to that..

Dr. Jeffress and Dr. Tony Evans. They are rock solid and will bless your heart... I believe are graduates from Dallas Theological Seminary and have EARNED Doctorates, not just given them as an honorarium..
They are very wise.
Wish I lived there. It's where I would attend Church services to learn and grow..
