The funny thing is I understand ancient greek. My public education in Athens did not all go to waste as we learned to read and write it a couple of times a week. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I also could read amd write better than 90% of “natives” in college in NY.

It’s in the genes and the shitty appreciation of reading amd writing in America on a general level. It’s only gotten worse. Only the few wonderfully smart and achieving Americans save this shithole from the MAGA crowds uneducated, moronic illiteracy and plain nothingness. My average plumber in Greece, whom you never met before, has a higher IQ than most. He’s there in minutes, no appointment shit, gets done, gets paid a more than fair price, and is always around.

It just FIGURES.

This is the cute story that got me curious:

http://www.ekathimerini.com/multimedia/images/1239541/chinese-students-send-timeless-message-of-ancient-greek-song/

So, I searched Youtube for the Seikilos Epitaph the oldest found written song, many playing using the original instrument Lyre, and others….all on Youtube. It is about Life, how short it is, and that it must be celebrated while it lasts.

The best I found was done by Greeks, of course, and the woman’s voice raises the bar for brilliant sound…..I can imagine how the ancient Greeks enjoyed and celebrated life.

Here’s that one performance:

There are several other clips, including one guy who made the ancient instruments of those days with original materials which he describes and plays:
