>>> What type of grass are you folks in the South growing? Bamboo?

All types. Some pretty tough, but mostly bermuda or St. Augustine.

The thing is, in the SOUTH we believe in cutting our grass with a sharp blade, not beating it into submission with a dull hunk of spinning iron.

Re: “My next door neighbor has one of these and he cleans the undercarriage, replaces. sharpens blades and all the rest while sitting on a stool beside the mower.”
I can appreciate using it to clean the undercarriage. I always forget to do that until I want to mow, and flipping the mower over floods the engine and delays everything by half an hour. Replacing blades only happens once every few years -- after I've hit one too many rocks. I've got no problem with flipping the thing over once every few years.

Sharpen the blades? I haven't ever done that. What type of grass are you folks in the South growing? Bamboo?
