The first three chapters in Genesis.
The first sentence: In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.
In the third chapter of Genesis:
"For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
Many incorrectly take this to mean that God did not want man to have knowledge. That is not true. Reread that verse again.
Two points: You will be like God. That was a lie.
Second point: The 'knowledge' of knowing good and evil. Another lie.
When MAN decides that a man knows (or can decide which is a more accurate portrayal/translation of 'knowing') what is good and evil.
How is that working out for mankind today ? Men/governments are deciding that is good to kill certain people (river to the sea, Cambodia, Russian revolution, Mao and his 'cultural revolution') killing the elderly to put them out of their misery, or reduce their 'burden on society', the entire 'woke' culture, taking from people by force to 'give to others', and so on. Let's not forget the huge percentage of people that believe in 'moral relativism'. When man decides that he/she/it/the government are the arbiters of what is 'good' and what is 'evil' - it doesn't go so well .... not at all. QED
That is what happens when MAN decides to be 'like God' or in ANY way believes that the man has knowledge equivalent to that of God, or better than God.
That is just one of the reasons why the FIRST COMMANDMENT is:
THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER gods BEFORE (but) ME.
DE, is it really the Adam and Eve story that 'bugs you the most' - or is it the very first sentence in the Bible ?
As a bona-fide scientist myself, I am fully aware of the limitations of my knowledge. Many scientists are not so aware.
It was NEVER 'knowledge' that GOD prohibited.
Yes, Adam and Eve were indeed like Promethius. They played with fire, and got burned quite badly.
The 'snake' did NOT do mankind any favors.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good ...
