GM De!

You are not alone in the population of Biblical skeptics and "cherry pickers" of certain passages. One cannot read scripture with any understanding without reading the entire contexts which means long before ya get to a verse and after as well. Then compare it to the contexts before it and after.

I can provide a LIST of the Translators by "company" of the most scholarly Latin and Greek professors in the world who were the translators of the ancient Hebrew and Greeks texts.. WHEN you know how we got the English language version from the Hebrew and Greek its accuracy is not questionalble.

Let me give you an OLD TESTAMENT Verse written by GOD'S Chosen Servant DAVID in Psalms, chapter 6 and verse 7.

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

ALL of recorded WORDS of GOD and NON-recorded Words of GOD are PURE and TRUE. Many are commands. ALL are for OUR Benefit.

He does not LIE nor play tricks on us. An attribute of GOD is that HE CANNOT LIE. It is impossible due to HIS very NATURE that it is impossible for HIM to Lie.

HE gave to us instructions recorded and preserved thru HIS servants the Prophets and Apostles and chosen Men after looking upon their hearts, like David, Solomon for example.

Believe me when I tell you that you are not the only person I have known who has difficulty with accepting Biblical truth and inerrancy of the Scriptures.

This has been a long time game played for centuries back to the 1500's by those seeking to discredit the scriptures and change them.

The AUTHOR of the BIBLE is found right here in
Psalm 68:11

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

2 Peter 1: 21 says this regarding the origins of the Scriptures:

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

You would do well to spend time SEARCHING the Scriptures for in them you will find truth and Life through faith in the ONE who not only gave those Words to HIS servants to record, but for all of mankind to have so that they may KNOW what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of GOD for all people". Romans 12 :2

Just a couple things to consider.

Re: “I suspect you missed the point of the whole article.”
Naw, I read it. I just used it as a launching pad to go off on something 'Biblical' that has always bugged me. I do that sometimes.

Many folks insist that the Bible is 100 percent true. I've always insisted that it isn't, that it - particularly the Old Testament - is a book of parables, some worth considering and some not, some reasonable and some without credibility. Not many people give the story of Adam and Eve enough thought to appreciate the favor that the devil did for humanity in getting Eve to eat an apple (or pomegranate) that bestowed it with the ability to question and learn. I view it as akin to Prometheus, stealing fire from the gods, though Prometheus is heralded today as a hero of Greek lore, not demonized as a devil. In this, I'd say that the Old Testament got it terribly wrong.
