Re: “So I started reading the Bible, and found what I felt was an inconsistency.”
I too found some contradictions - and I'm not even a Bible reader! Here's one:

Hebrews 6:18: These two things cannot change: God cannot lie when he says something, and he cannot lie when he makes an oath.

Luke 1:37: "With God nothing will be impossible"

IMO, it's best to take the Bible with a grain of salt (disengage the brain while reading) or, as in my case, to not seek profound spiritual knowledge in a book that Man has had ample opportunity and motive to tamper with.

Micro > I suggest you read the following verses and t hen tell me about the fiction of Giant people on the earth..

Micro,
You continue to miss the entire point.

Every 'religious text' . . . Every 'Holy Book' . . . Every Bible or Koran or other such tome was written by Men. You can tell me the Bible was inspired by God. You can tell me most of the stories in it have some connection to events that happened way back in ancient times. But to tell me it is the 'perfect work of God' and every syllable MUST be absolute truth - BullShitz.

We're talking about Giant Peoples . . . Where are the skeletons?

Way back when when I was a young man recently out of the Army and going to college I almost wound up running with a cult. They called themselves the 'Way of the Word' and they believed the Bible was the perfect, inspired, words of God. So I started reading the Bible, and found what I felt was an inconsistency. They guy I was talking with told me it must be 'An Error of Translation'. How can the perfect Word of God have an error of translation? And I wound up not running with that bunch. (Pity - they had a few cute girls.)

The Bible is a lot of things. I like the Ten Commandments. I think they are a nice simple set of rules to help civilized minded peoples get along well with other peoples and I think they (or a secularized version of them) should be taught in the schools.

But the Bible being the absolute Gospel Truth? I don't think so.

Zim.
