Re: “Makes me glad I decided NOT to read an article which had a 'cnn' byline on it.”
I've practically stopped watching TV. I'm at the new house 99% of the time and it has limited internet. I've got ten thousand movies and TV shows recorded and have been watching them on occasion, focusing on the ones I recorded first - more than 20 years ago. I once reported my amazement that the disks were still good. Since then I've found many of those oldest ones to be bad... maybe half. But I think my success rate will improve after the first few hundred disks. I remember switching to a different dvd recorder fairly early on.

The old house still has high-speed internet, but I don't think I've spent the night there in the last month so it's not getting a lot of use.

I don't miss broadcast TV at all. I do miss the streaming services. Netflix has a couple of series, "The Boys" and "Killing Eve," that I'm partway through and enjoying. I've essentially traded TV for books... and that's a worthwhile swap, I think, especially since very few of the books are fiction. I've learned a lot from them in the last year. I'm close to the end of Vince Lombardi's biography, and it's taught me a great deal about leadership and the importance he placed on "winning." Good book... but not the best I've read. The next one on the list is "Doctor Zhivago" by Boris Pasternak. Historical fiction. I'm sure some of you have seen the movie.
