As in the U.S., Britain has many political parties. The useless Conservative Party has dominated U.K. elections for more than a decade, with the Leftist Labour Party being #2. Nigel Farage founded the defunct Brexit Party which has morphed into the current Reform Party.

What just occurred is that the Labour Party swept the Conservative Party out of power. But the Reform Party, which is new, did astonishingly well, *almost* taking the #2 spot which the Conservatives still hold. It's likely that the Labour Party's dominance will not last long, and the door will then be open for a Reform Party triumph in the next go around.

Nigel Farage only came out of retirement 4 weeks ago to run for office - that's how quickly things have moved. His win is nothing short of remarkable. His party now has what he calls a "Beachhead" in Parliament. This is very good news for his party and for England. You'll remember how Brexit, which Farage spearheaded, presaged Donald Trump's own victory later that same year. Farage and Trump have a lot in common politically... as do the political fortunes of England and the U.S.
