It's been over 50 years since the last time I was in KC. They seriously were playing "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" through loudspeakers??? Woof!

I was in south central Kansas ... about an hour or so drive northwest of Wichita.

Re: “Just got back home from being with family for a small-town 4th of July celebration in Kansas”
I once spent a few days in Kansas City, MO. It's just across the Missouri river from its Kansas counterpart, so I did a little sight seeing in both cities. My chief memory was that downtown Kansas City, Kansas plays "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" through loudspeakers at least once a day. I think I heard it at noon - so who knows? Maybe it's hourly.

While I found it curious and fun at the time, I was only a visitor listening to it once. Can you imagine living or working there and having to listen to it EVERY SINGLE DAY???? Ghhaaa. It'd be awful. About like working in the "It's a Small World" ride at Disney. After a while, I think I'd gouge my ears off with a spork!

I'm glad you had a good trip. What part of the state were you in?
