Young people in Greece can no longer go with friends on summer vacations in the islands, etc. instead they work hard 12 hour tourism jobs around the country in order to get away. Prices have skyrocketed, airbnb short rentals have killed longterm rentals for locals who either cannot find apartments to rent or are too expensive, etc. a vicious circle. Tourism has become a scourge in much of Europe and the US. Key West, for example, is no longer the quaint place I first visited in the early 90s. It’s now a zoo. Same for N Orleans, especially during holidays.
