Here's an article about people using the Whataburger app to track power outages:

The website of the Texas power authority which is responsible for most the grid in Texas, their power outage app, which is supposed to show which areas are with or without power, has gone down and has been down since Beryl hit the Texas coast. But there appears to be another 'app' out there that's up running and it shows where the power is off or on. That's the 'Whataburger' app, from the fast food company. They have over 700 locations in Texas and they're open 24/7 but their app shows if a store is actually open or not and so people are using their app to track where power has been restored and where it hasn't been.

I downloaded the app and it really does show all of their stores in the Houston area and you can see where they're open or not (a greyed-out store is closed while one shown in red is open).
