As of last night around 6:00pm (CDT), our son in Texas was still without power in his neighborhood. He said that CenterPoint Power, the largest power provider in the state, had not yet even evaluated the outage in his part of Katy, but that once they did, that it could be another 36 to 48 hours before residents in the area could expect to see their power restored.

Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick, who's been the acting Governor since Gregg Abbot left for Asia on an industry-sponsored junket promoting Texas investment opportunities, is now blaming Joe Biden for the slow response that Texas is having in getting the power back on. The Governor left before Beryl hit and isn't scheduled to return until this weekend. Patrick is now claiming that Biden wasted too much time trying to contact Abbot instead of him and that this delayed the state getting the help it needed from the feds despite the fact that FEMA had pre-positioned hundreds of people prior to the storm hitting the state.
