No offense taken, micro. Can we always be taking steps to improve the grid? Oh, heck yeah, but as electrical grids go ... and for MANY, MANY other reasons ... I am very glad to be living in Texas, rather than California.

Thanks for the explanation Sir Wizard.
I have relatives that live in the Houston area as well as in Ft. Worth. My cousins and my father's sister whose kids are my cousins living in a couple different cities.

I'm really not trying to bash Texas. I am really just mazed that for some reason (from an engineer's viewpoint) why we as a whole can't figure out a better methodology to withstand the elements knowing in advance they will experience extremely high winds and gusts from the incoming hurricane winds..
