Joe Bonsall passed away on the 9th. He's one of a rash of celebrities, some great, some not-so, who have died in the last few days including Shannen Doherty, Richard Simmons, Dr. Ruth and Shelley Duvall.

Bonsall was the tenor and often lead singer of the Oakridge Boys for fifty years. My buddy went to school with him. They sang in the same choir and, while not exactly friends (it was a huge choir), they did know each other. His loss doesn't impact me directly, but there's an indirect loss. My buddy and I have reminisced about Bonsall and that choir many times over the years. Even then, Bonsall was the star.

Bonsall died of A.L.S. - Lou Gehrig's disease - what Stephen Hawking had.
