I saw that the night was clear and went out to look for the nova. It's hopeless. We're two nights away from a full moon, and it's so bright, even with the gibbous moon low, that few stars can be seen overhead or to the south. I bet I could read in its light.

In the previous post, my "small circle" showing where the nova will be is probably incorrect. I say probably because it was based on an article that I now consider suspect. A seemingly better article says the nova will be just outside the cup of Corona Borealis, where the green dot is.
