Re: “mz ribit's crazy sister”
This has almost nothing to do with your post but, what the hell...

When my mom was quite young, she dated a guy named Eddie who she didn't really like. "Then why'd you date him, Ma?" "Well, he had a car..."

So, Eddie was my to-be-father's best friend. He and my Dad decided to take my mom and my mom's sister on a double date. My dad didn't much care for Jane, the sister, but he apparently thought my mom was a real hottie.

To make a long story short, some time passed, Hitler invaded Poland, Hitler killed about a hundred million people, yada yada yada, and one day my Dad, in uniform, runs into Eddie, also in uniform. Eddie finds out that my Dad is being sent home for a few weeks for a little R&R. "Hey, stop in and say 'hi' to my girl for me, will ya?" he asks. My dad reluctantly agrees, does so, takes her out, proposes, she says "you betcha!" and Eddie and my dad stopped being such great friends.

Sometime around 1980, my aunt called my dad and said, "Say, did you hear about Eddie's boy? He won 7 million dollars in the Connecticut lottery last year!"

Huh. The son of the guy who my mom could have married won seven million dollars! I told my mom I didn't know if I could ever fully forgive her.
