do ya remember having a "milk man" drive around in a small dairy delivery truck and bring the glass containers of milk to a "milk Box" made out of what appeared to be variant of a tin coated metal possibly galvanized as well.

It was weekly thing.. We got to know our milk deliverer as well as Mailman who walked the sidewalks delivering mail to our houses.. His name was Leroy and was the nicest person on this planet. He was a Korean War vet and so kind to us kids.

That was when everyone in a subdivision knew each other and interacted. Early 50's. I miss those days...

Wonderful !

Another for the list: 'milk run'.

Back in the early 2000's, was on an elevator. It was pretty full, and almost all the buttons were lit for stopping at each floor. I made the comment that we were on the milk run. Got a LOT of 'blank stares' - and then smiles when I explained that a milk run was when a train stopped at every station, dating back to the days when milk was delivered daily to homes from farms, and that the 'milk run' was the train that stopped at every station to pick up the milk from local dairies.
