Flames, fumes, AND possibly shrapnel from the initial explosion. Being in an enclosed space when that thing went off definitely constituted "wrong place, wrong time."

There is a kid (I say "kid" ... he's probably 17 or so) in our neighborhood who zooms around on both an electric bike and an electric scooter. After seeing THAT video clip, I would be chucking those things, right away. If I couldn't bear to part with them, I would, at the very least, keep those damn things OUTSIDE the house at all times and charge them using only an outdoor outlet on the back patio.

I assumed as much. If the flames didn't get him, the fumes would have.

Ironically, if he had just picked a floor before the doors closed, he might have lived. But the timing really sucked... as did his day.
