A better description might be

small CITY. Not a town..

It is incorporated as the city of Middletown, Ohio

51,000 people is a lot of people.

The Sierra Nevada range is impressive but not nearly as much as The Rockies. I spent a few weeks in Colorado Springs one year on business. I can't remember the name of the hotel resort but it was right at the base of the Rockies. Rugged, sheer faces and snow capped peaks.
They were impressive.. The oversized hills we call the Appalachians are just that, large rounded hills .

But the Rockies, especially the Canadian Rockies are just awe inspiring..
The Sierra range is no slouch. I just do not believe they are as quite as huge as the Rockies or Canadian Rockies.

Anyway, those mountain ranges are ALL wondrous to see up close. I like them all....

Re: “Middletown Ohio is not a small town.”
51,000 people. Depending on where you come from, it might be considered small. In California, for instance, Woodland was and is a hick town on the outskirts of Sacramento. I bet you've never heard of it. But guess what? It's bigger than Middletown OH.

Now, here in New Hampshire, Middletown would be the state's 3rd biggest city. Nobody would call it a small town, except maybe for me. Guess what, though? I also call the mountains east of the Mississippi "gopher mounds." That's pretty much all they are compared to the mountains I lived alongside in both Sacramento and Ogden.
