Re: “Who runs these auctions? Are they just local to you?”
The auctions I attend are local to me. They require customer pick-up or charge an arm-and-a-leg for shipping. Therefore, I have my radius set at 50 miles and only participate in auctions that don't support shipping. Around here, 50 miles is a 90-minute or 2-hour drive and I don't want to drive any further unless it's for multiple pickups.Remember: Even if the only thing you get is a $1 snow shovel, you still have to go pick it up. That can suck if you only win one trivial item.

I'm not going to get more specific about the "Loose Change" lot and who is selling it because, oddly enough, I don't actually WANT to compete with you! However, if you check your e-mail in a few minutes, I'll send you information on how to find auctions local to you using the same service. The pickups suck, but the auctions themselves are a whole lot of fun... treasure hunts where you hope you know more than the others. We've gotten quite a few things for just a buck or two. It all boils down to how many customers show up as the bidding begins to close.

Some of those mercury dimes could be worth more than a few bucks. Even in only fair condition.
