The four individuals were the officers of the school's Student Government. (J.D. Vance was the vice president. Ironic, no?) Since the positions were usually held by guys, the three girls thought it would be fun to take a photo showing that this time the girls were in charge.

The pic was so controversial that their school had no objection to printing it in the yearbook. But, of course, back then people actually had a sense of humor.

what age do ya think these kids were?

I suspect 16 or less. Possibly 15 or 14 if a freshman.

Kids do lots of stupid things in adolescent years and this is obviously a staged picture with nothing going on..

Which makes this photo a NOTHINGBURGER..
