Tipping is a mess, some owners take advantage of the servers, and, yes, there is a difference between walkup and dining service... Best practice is to tip in cash, directly to the server, but then the back room, cooks, prepares lose out... It's a mess... Our kids, relatives worked in various restaurants, donut, cookie shops, so we knew the game, way back, hopefully helped some kids out over the years... We also tip those delivery, installer guys as they come along... So many good people doing good work...
