BREAKING: Woman who fatally shot Black neighbor through locked apartment door is convicted of manslaughter
Susan Louise Lorincz, 60, was convicted of manslaughter in the fatal shooting of her neighbor Ajike “AJ” Owens through a locked apartment door last year in Ocala, Florida.
At trial, prosecutors said Owens, who was Black, went to confront Lorincz after she allegedly threw skates and an umbrella at Owens’ children amid an ongoing feud—and was shot with her kids present. Lorincz, who is white and has a history of harassing children and using racial slurs, insisted the shooting was in self-defense.
