BREAKING: Army and local police missed 'several opportunities' to intervene before Maine mass shooting, report concludes
An independent commission investigating the October 2023 mass shooting that left 18 dead and 13 others injured concluded that law enforcement and the military had “several opportunities” to reduce Robert Card’s threat to the public.

In a 215-page report, the commission said that local law enforcement failed to take Card’s weapons and the Army Reserve failed to provide proper mental care that “might have changed the course of these tragic events.” The shooting at a bowling alley and bar is the deadliest massacre in Maine’s history.
