I just finished a Healthy Choice frozen entre called a "Pineapple Chicken Café Steamer." It was good but small, microwaveable in 4 minutes.

But the reason for the post is that I can't believe the amount of plastic involved. Not only was there a plastic bowl with a seran wrapped top, but it also had a plastic colander to keep the food separate from the sauce. Very elaborate for a quick frozen meal, with much thicker plastic than I would have expected. I guess when the cooking is done, a person can then pour the sauce over the food (with the help of a plate) or dump the food into the sauce and eat it without a plate.

Whatever. This is all for a 4 minute, 9.9 oz MEAL FOR ONE that sells for $3.99 *. Now all that plastic goes into the trash, where it will either wind up in a landfill or stuck in some poor whale's stomach. What a waste **.

And I'm still hungry. I think I'll go eat another one.

* Note: It's $3.99 but my wife found it on clearance, half off. I don't think I'd have bought it even then, but I'm not going to tell her that.

** I actually put the bowl and colander into the dishwasher. If they survive it, maybe I can use them as a seed sifter or come up with some other reason why they should stay out of the trash. (This is how hoarders get their start.)
