weco is posting about his mild case of shingles, and that got me to reading. I learned something new. Did you folks know that shingles is contagious? Not in the way you think, though. Nobody with shingles is going to spread it... but they CAN cause an outbreak of chickenpox, particularly among children.

I don't know why that never occurred to me. I've always known that shingles and chickenpox were caused by the same virus. It makes sense that either could cause chickenpox. I know people (my sister, for instance) who've had shingles. I bet they didn't know they could be spreading an even more dangerous disease. Shingles doesn't kill folks, but chickenpox occasionally does.
