I had shingles in the late 80's, on the right side of head.

Doctor was concerned about my eye & ear.
It didn't bother me much. No lasting effects.

My youngest son had a terrible case on his stomach and into his back. He was young, the pediatrician had me take him to a dermatologist to be certain.
His case was painful, looked like angry cottage cheese.

They say you can get it again.
I think they are now covering the vaccine on Medicare, but I have not decided to get it.

Do something positive.

I just had the vaccine yesterday, a little woozy today…..red spot on injection site. But, here’s why:

I did not know that it can manifest in one’s eye and brain. I thought it just shows up painfully around torso and legs so I figured I could weather that if it happened, but then a neighbor has just had it a few weeks back and just found out about it as I returned from Greece.

They went on vacation. Neither of them had had the shot, figuring they’d get it upon return. Murphy’s Law is unkind though. The wife got it in her eye and head, resulting in devastating sudden headaches and about a week later meningitis that put her in the hospital for a week. Long story short, the headaches and problems with her eye are not gone, she is unable to go outside even with wearing sunglasses because her eye cannot handle the brightness. She has functioning issues. In a few words, she is left with neurological problems that will most likely never leave her, or take a very long time to abate. I hope the best for her, we still haven’t seen her as she is not sociable yet.

Not something I was willing to chance happening. It’s a two shot vaccine 2-6 months apart. At his time and age, once I found out last Sunday that I was so misinformed about it, it took us a New York minute to get the shot.

Think about it.

BTW, had to go to the VW dealer today to talk to the service guy I know and the head mechanic about an EPC light problem that popped up yesterday with misfiring, etc., which I put the diagnostic probe on and told me misfire on 4th cylinder, so I took the engine cover off and checked the injector harness, and it wasn’t locked in. I locked it and the problem seemed to go away(too bad because I drove that way last night in traffic from Miami, stop and go, smelling gas and trying to get passed low revs so it would not buckle and run smoothe-er, but the tool could not reset the fault, so I went there with the other car and screen pictures, agreed to come back early morning next week to check out harnesses, etc…low and behold when I got back, I started the car, went for a ride, smooth like a baby’s ass, and diagnostic tool said no faults detected. Whodathunkit? If no problems, car computer clears faults after some driving miles on its own. Solved my own problem, BUT, when I talked to the service guy, who had never had covid, never vaccinated, no mask wearing, he told me he got it last month and he had never been sicker. His wife gave it to him. He took Paxlovid.

Shit happens all the time. Food for thought. Be prepared and able.
