I never have considered him, nor GWB to be 'conservatives'. They are and were both big government advocates. Bush: Patriot Act, Department of Homeland Security, FISA courts - all big government. GWB was not 'right wing' he was pretty far to the 'left' in the Republican party, further even than his father HWB. That is why he and ØFeuhrer got along so well, are even friends.
Halliburton USED to be one of the largest, and well respected, oil field services companies - rivaled only by the French Company: Schlumberger - the world's BEST, by far.
That was Halliburtons reputation - until Dick Chendy took over the reigns. It was shortly after that takeover that I quit contracting with Landmark Geophysical as a 'consultant' and went to solo independent business model. Landmark was one of the 'victims' of a Halliburton buyout.
