Nations should be encouraged to form alliances with others in order to defend themselves. That's what most of Europe and the U.S. has done. But Ukraine didn't do that.

I can live with Ukraine being the victim of a painful lesson. Other countries that don't want to build a strong military should consider buying protective services from those that do. If it's our services they want, the price should be high.

But the stupidity we're engaged in right now - where we're funding (and perhaps more) the defense of a country that's not even our friend - has got to end. We can't afford it.

That is true, De.
But, do we want to live in a world where 'bigger countries' can 'eat' smaller countries with impunity . . .

Or do we want to live in a world with 'Rule of Law' where small countries have just as many 'rights' as the bigger ones do?
