Well, in truth, Colorado State and UT San Antonio have good, solid football programs ... BUT, they are NOT well-equipped to stay all four quarters with the massive, well-funded teams of the big conferences. And, we found out that Michigan is now a shadow of its former self. So, Texas has not yet faced some REALLY serious competition ... and they are not going to, next week, either.

However, playing these teams from "lesser" conferences is a two-sided coin - you get to tune up against what is supposed to be an easier opponent, BUT you cannot let your guard down because YOU ARE SUPPOSED (i.e., REQUIRED!) TO WIN and you are worthless crap if you don't. The Prosecution is pleased to enter Exhibit #1 into evidence - Northern Illinois 16 - Notre Dame 14 - AT HOME IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA!

Hopefully, there will be no let down against UL Monroe, this coming weekend, and in two weeks, Mississippi State will test Texas ... however, the SEC's Mississippi State is currently on the skids at 1-2 with last Saturday's loss to a "lesser" conference opponent in Toledo, who beat them at home by a score of 41 to 17. The real tests come right after with Oklahoma and Georgia.

WELL

Like it or not, the Longhorns are showing their strength and playing very, very well. Congrats to the Longhorns.

When does Georgia start playing against a worthwhile opponent Ribs? Its like the Buckeyes beating up the little sisters of the poor. I know they like to give other Ohio colleges an opportunity for a large payday that will help their school financially but I would prefer to see games against some worthwhile opponents..

Should be a great year to watch. The big ten also now includes the Oregon Ducks who are always a nationally ranked team and very excellent football team.. Washington is no pansy either.. Luke Fickel is turning Wisconsin around to be a contender like they were for a long time. He is building that program back like he did at Cincinnati. Only he will have access to better recruits who want to play at a high level.

The SEC is a excellent conference to watch with parity starting to come through now with multiple schools getting seriously better.. Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky,
now Texas, plus Bama and Georgia.

That's a good group of strong teams..

Should be a fun year of watching college ball !

Congrats to the Horns and Dawgs!
