"Eco loon" is perfectly accurate terminology for Aashis Joshi, who is apparently a PhD candidate at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Our benighted "hero," Josh ... "Josh" somehow seems an appropriate shortened name for this goober ... is in the process of getting a worthless sheepskin in something called "climate adaptation."

Let's see what Josh has to say for himself ...

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ Washing clothes by hand is a chore, oftentimes a lonely one. But it needn鈥檛 be. We could have communal washing facilities in each neighborhood where people can plan to come in groups to do their laundry together ...

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ ... while having a chat, or come alone & have a chat with anyone who's also there washing their clothes. Of course those who prefer to do it at home are free to do so.

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ Washing clothes by hand is also tiring work if you have a load, but it鈥檚 still physical activity & exercise. We spend time in the gym & running outside to keep fit; would it be so bad to devote some of that time & energy to washing clothes by hand?

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ When it comes to preparing & consuming food, communal kitchens would eliminate the need to have refrigerators, stoves, ovens, & other kitchen appliances in each home. They would reduce the consumption of materials & energy, & also food waste, by a lot.

Then, it all of a sudden dawns on Josh that women may especially not be all that thrilled with his forgoing fantasies, so, in a panic, Josh adds the following in hopes that he will escape abuse from any of the hairy-knuckled females in his general vicinity ...

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ And of course, it's unacceptable for men to exploit women to do work that should be equitably shared. Abolishing the patriarchy is a must.

More than an hour later, our "hero" still appeared to be trying to fend off some offended females ...

Aashis Joshi 馃崏馃崏 (@aashisjo) ~ That is a great example of a social & cultural inequity that we'd be better off trying to address at its patriarchal root before seeking a technological solution for it. If we can't convince men to wash clothes then there's little chance of people choosing ecosocialism anyway.

Ol' Josh sure does like the word "communal," but I suppose that is fashionable for a Marxist who fantasizes about "ecosocialism," eh?

Many people had thoughts ...

detectorcoalition (@pillhover) ~ Handwashing clothes is tedious even for delicate clothes. Housewives used to call laundry the worst chore as it was physically demanding and took all day. It鈥檚 tiring work, not like going to the gym. Women eagerly adopted the washing machine. Making it communal wouldn鈥檛 help.

ScienceVixen 馃 (@VixenScience) ~ Hun, when you say 鈥榳e鈥, women know you mean 鈥榳omen.鈥 And don鈥檛 give me the 鈥楤ut we must abolish the patriarchy鈥 schtick. You just wrote a whole thread, advocating to make work that falls disproportionately to women harder. That is the patriarchy.

Max Dubler (@maxdubler) ~ You are welcome to do this. I will keep my labor saving appliances, thank you very much.

EscalatingEris (@escalatingeris) ~ Here's a suggestion: find a young family with a couple of babies/toddlers and volunteer to do their washing for a couple of months. By hand. Then come back and tell us whether you still feel the same.

riddle (@MalfoyVoldy) ~ Reminds me of Robert Caro writing about the women in Hill Country Texas washing clothes before running water and electricity. He recalls meeting these women when he lives there for a few years to research for his first LBJ book and they refuse to talk to him. Eventually they talk to his wife, Ina, about the hardship and pain they endure whilst doing household tasks before modern plumbing and electricity in early 20th Century.

Read what those women said. And realize the Left wants this for all of us.

Drew Pavlou (@DrewPavlou) ~ De-growth is legitimately one of the most evil ideologies in history. They want us to all go back to feudal serfdom.

Louis Anslow (@LouisAnslow) ~ This is what happens when women鈥檚 studies ignores technology's role in women鈥檚 liberation.

But SAVING THE PLANET!
