Built quickly from CAT 2 to 4, and dropped to 3 very quickly after landfall, contrary to 'predictions' that because of it's size, that it would maintain intensity far inland.

It did drop quickly to Cat 1, and to Tropical Storm status when it entered southern Georgia.

With a fast mover, total rainfall on each area it passes over will be quite a bit lower than even a very slow moving tropical storm.

Current news is saying NOTHING about how high ACTUAL STORM surges were. Predictions were for long stretches of coastline to be hit by a 20 foot wall. From the lack of reporting, appears that those predictions were waaaaaaaaaay off, embarrassingly so.

I also have questions about how wide the '140 mph' sustained winds section was. Have the feeling, from the low damage/death reports, it was a rather 'small' section of the storm that got to CAT 4, and that would explain why the storm dropped in intensity so quickly.

It's coming ashore at 140 mph. That's a good sized CATEGORY 4 storm.
