Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins was absolutely remarkable against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, throwing for an insane 509 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Dirty Birds to an unbelievable 36-30 overtime victory. The clincher came on a 45-yard TD pass to wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge, who took it to the house in an appropriate finish for this thriller.
The Falcons‘ victory came following a bananas fourth quarter that saw an interception, a blocked field goal and a fumble. After all of that took place, Atlanta once again had possession of the ball at their own 20-yard-line with only 1:14 left in regulation. They were down, 30-27, with no timeouts.
Cousins quickly got the Falcons down the field and to Tampa Bay’s 29, setting up kicker Younghoe Koo for a 52-yard game-tying field goal to send the game into overtime.
When we got to the coin toss, Atlanta won the flip, and from there, they made sure the Buccaneers never had another offensive possession. Cousins hit wide receiver Drake London with two passes, and then boom … insanity … as Hodge caught a short pass and sprinted down the field for the game-winning touchdown. And to make it more impressive, he did it after breaking a tackle, slicing and dicing through the secondary, and then completely outrunning every single defender on the field.
