I think I've seen reports of 15' and am sure of seeing reports of a 12' surge. The predictions by EVERYONE were that the surge would be 20 foot. It wasn't - which would explain the relative MMS 'silence' on what really happened.
That early 1900's (1908 ?) surge in Galveston placed almost the entire island under 8 feet of standing water.
