That explains the pictures (1&3) of those hills/mountains to the south of your house. I was going to say they were to the SE (from the shadows involved) - but this post indicates they are more to the West. You were out seeing what the visibility/cloud cover I would guess - and just too much beauty to not share it around.

Indeed, quite a sight, and thanks for sharing.

(And if I've totally messed up my directions, monkey has difficulty with telling up from down nowadays. *s*)

You folks might want to take a look to the Southwest shortly after sunset to see Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. I tried without success. Tonight's halfmoon is lighting up the hilltops around me, making it impossible to see any stars except for those that are straight up.
