So, I’ve spent a week here, relaxed totally at 6000’, did a couple of rides up and down, all hills here, unfortunately no country roads that go out to the landscape without turning into dirt roads, so if one wants to ride more than 15 miles on roads will either have to do circles or get on the major roads with the cars doing 55, etc. so that’s a deal breaker for me. I don’t hike like they do here and I don’t like and do gravel/dirt. Besides I didn’t see any group of riders but rather some lonely souls going about it here and there. I ride with hundreds any day I want in FL.
What stands out here is the weather. It’s been 80s and upper 70s, sunny, dry, the pines smell amazingly, the wildlife is all over, deer, havayannas, wild turkeys…..etc. If I could bottle all that………..I’ll miss it a lot.
Very polite people, lots of young people repuglicans don’t like. Not much going on intellectually and life/night life wise. They ride to Phoenix, two hours away for that. I am an Athenian, New Yorker, South Floridian, used to LIFE.
A great place to faze …off …out.
