At least you DO have that book database. I assume you have some sort of 'location' field so that you can actually find the book you are looking for?

I reached the conclusion early that the shelves wouldn't be for hardbacks - except, possibly, for those I put on the floor beneath the first row of shelving. By limiting the shelving to just the smallest books, I lessen the weight issues and can have a lot more books out.

In SF alone, I have 740 hardbacks and 319 oversized paperbacks. In fantasy, 380 hardbacks and 153 oversized paperbacks. These are books that will be boxed up in perpetuity unless I make some other arrangement.... except for the lucky few that I regard as too dear to my heart to keep confined.
