Has Kamala Harris Thrown in the Towel?

We're now two weeks from Election Day, and every moment counts. Donald Trump's visit to McDonald's was a massive success, and now he is expected to record an interview for Joe Rogan's podcast on Friday, beating Kamala Harris to the punch. Kamala has faced criticism for not having an aggressive schedule in the final weeks of the campaign, and it's starting to look like she's just phoning it in — or perhaps she's just thrown in the towel already.

On Tuesday, Trump has been busy doing his usual campaigning. Where has Kamala been? She was off the trail in Washington, D.C. to prepare for two interviews in the afternoon."I was going to hit her really hard on the trail today, but now I don't have to, because she's off. She's off. No, I can't get over it," Trump said Tuesday at a roundtable event with Latino leaders.

"Who the hell takes off?" he continued. "You have 14 days left, and she'll take a couple of more days off, too. You know why? She's lazy as hell, and she's got that reputation, and she's a radical left lunatic, she's further left than Bernie Sanders or Pocahontas."When you consider the way Harris was trying to make Trump's alleged (though nonexistent) exhaustion a campaign issue over the past few days, her absence from the campaign trail raises a lot of questions. Why did she abandon her campaign to prepare for two interviews? She's been campaigning for three months now; she shouldn't need to prepare. Does this sound like something a candidate who really wants to win would do? Sure, she's sending her surrogates out there — people whom Democrat voters actually like more than her — but that's not exactly a great sign either. Barack Obama was with Tim Walz in Wisconsin today because they need Obama to get people in the seats.

And he failed at that. Big time.Meanwhile, Mark Cuban has been delegated the responsibility of pushing her economic agenda because, apparently, the campaign doesn't trust Kamala to be able to do it.But wait, there's more. On Wednesday, Walz is going to campaign in Kentucky, and Kamala will be going to Texas on Friday. The Harris-Walz ticket will not win either of these states. So what does this tell us? It tells us that in the final two weeks of the campaign, they are diverting campaign resources trying to boost down-ballot races. Keep in mind everyone is touting that this election is extremely close. The fact that Walz and Kamala are heading to Kentucky and Texas in the same week suggests one of two things: either they feel confident enough about their standing in the presidential race to shift focus, or they’re trying to salvage what they can in key down-ballot races. Considering Trump's momentum in recent weeks, I highly doubt it's the former.
