That reminds me of a little demonstration my Daddy once showed me.

Seems I found a bullet out on the street one day and brought it to Daddy. I think it might have been a .38 pistol round.

Daddy carefully pried the slug off. Then dumped off part of the powder. Then he laid the brass on the floor on its side and touched off the powder with his cigarette.

BANG!

And I'm pretty sure the brass ricocheted off the walls a few times.

Yep. Bullets are not something to fool around with.

Reminds me of an 'incident' when I was 5 or 6 years old.

A couple of other kids and I got our hands on some .22 (rimfire) ammo, and proceeded to experiment a tad.

We wanted to see if we could make one go off by setting one on a stone and throwing a brick at it (straight down, doncha know, for accuracty purposes.)

The experiment was a re-sounding success !!!

Had a dickens of a time 'splainin to Mom how I got a couple of shrapnel wounds.
