At one time, here on this earth, she was an English teacher who was fiercely determined, while she had a hold of my ear, to make sure I knew how to communicate properly. I used to tease her incessantly with the excuse that, "I don't speak English ... I speak Southern." My protests never phased her in the least and were roundly ignored.
