ya know, you got me to thinking and remembering my football playing days of yesteryear in another century! loL!!!

We were the number 1 rated high school, big school division, in football. We had beaten Moeller High School which was a recruiting football high school and that rivalry was intense. Them and US every year for the city title , last game of the regular season. We went up north for the state big school playoffs which came down to four teams including us.

We had never heard of this school before but they were from way up north.

We thought this opening round game was going to be a cakewalk.

On our opening possession I fired off the line to push the defensive tackle to t he right to open a hole up for our running back.

I hit this person as hard as I could and I bounced off of him like he was made of steel and anchored about a hundred feet deep.

I knew it was going to be a long night after that.

I could bench press 400 pounds back then.. I was miltary pressing 250 pounds ten reps at a time.

So we weren't slouches or didn't have weight training for strength. These guys were just well fed boars who were just stronger and bigger than we were.

It was a long night of football. They beat us by a touchdown. We finally quit trying to run thru them and went aroud them as we were built for speed. I actually could run down any of our backs. I was extremely athletic and very fast in my younger days. I played the line because I enjoyed the contact and physicality.

But we ran into a school that was just stronger than were were.

I suspect the same things happen to college players. There is always someone who is faster or stronger than yourself. And it shows as time wears on.

The problem Texas has is the number of high quality programs you have to play against. Good luck against them.

I am hoping for a repeat game with Oregon on a neutral field and neutral refs. I suspect the DUCKS will get roasted the second time. Ryan Day is pizzed about that game and what happened out there.

Well, Georgia beat us fair and square at home, earlier this year, but I hope we get a rematch in the SEC Championship. HOWEVER, we will need to beat Texas A&M in College Station in order to make that happen ... and THAT will be no small task. If we lose to the Aggies, I'm not sure we will even make the playoffs. Oh well ... that's why you play the games. You either show up and take care of business, or you don't.
