Glad the toxic culture of some platforms is being recognised. It's a far cry from what the web's founders imagined. They thought truth would win in the widest possible conversation. Instead, it's lies, bullying and so on.

That's why having converations proceed on the basis of politeness works so much better than rights models.

Australia's Senate passes a social media ban for children under 16

November 28, 2024

The law, soon to become a world first, will make platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram liable for fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars ($33 million) for systemic failures to prevent children younger than 16 from holding accounts.
