De

sorry to ask, but its only because I am considering doing this myself.
Getting home alarm and security system installed and monitored. There has been a fairly large bunch of apartment buildings (so called luxury) behind the homes on our street that are maybe 1000 feet behind my fenced yard.

To say I am a bit upset with the Trustees of the township for not putting in more homes in a nice subdivision would be an understatement. I Already have asked them directly if they would like to trade me homes and of course none of these massholes had any interest.

SO I am sorting thru options. I love my location and the home I designed and built. It was built for these particular years of age in mind. More than sufficient for two older people and some guests but not too large.
Easy to keep clean.

MAYBE a tall privacy fence in the back yard might shield a lot. Plant some larger shrubs that grow wide and tall.
Arborvitaes come to mind.

I'm sorry for your loss and invasion of privacy.. That has got to be a little unsettling at the least.

Best wishes on getting things secured and moved out..
Wish I was closer to help you!

Things could go better. I'm at the second house for the first time in more than a month and . . . it's been burglarized. I'd guess that I'm out $5k. However, I'm feeling lucky instead of depressed. Whoever it was could have taken a lot more (especially irreplaceable things like my mother's wedding portrait or the 1800s painting my parents willed me.) And he did minimal damage.

Oh well. I shouldn't have left so many things in this house. But even the police expressed surprise at some of the things the thief DIDN'T take. Ammunition. The big screen TV. My son's synthesizer (but it's in a carrying case.)

I have a hunch it was a single guy... maybe on foot... and when he'd taken all that he could carry, he left.

$5k is a lot to lose, but someone else might have taken us for $30k and trashed the house.

I'm sure you can guess what I'll be doing for the next week. NOTHING important to me will be staying here.
